The Cohort

20 young women from Battersea and Lambeth came to visit Queen Mary University London’s Engineering Department and the Blizard Biomedical Centre to explore the topics and meet professionals working in the field

Engineering

Together, we explored opportunities within engineering and toured some of the labs at Queen Mary University London. 

Professor Liz Tanner introduced QMUL and the different options within engineering there are. Including a hands-on example looking at the different tensile strength of polymers.

Biomedical

20 young women from Battersea and Lambeth came to visit Queen Mary University London’s Engineering Department and the Blizard Biomedical Centre to explore the topics and meet professionals working in the field.

Ahsen and Ruth gave a workshop on Sustainable Menstruation and provided each woman with a collection of sustainable menstrual products.

WISE@QMUL

Many women from the WISE@QMUL (Women in Science and Engineering) came for a Networking Lunch and short talks to understand each of their career paths, and allow our young women ask any questions that may have to the fantastic women in a range of scientific careers.
